Shemify terms of service and browser-based POS overview

Last updated: March 8, 2026.

These Terms of Service govern use of the Shemify website and the standard browser-based Shemify service. If a more specific checkout flow, subscription screen, in-product notice, or signed business agreement applies to a feature, plan, or account, that more specific agreement controls where it conflicts with this page.

Shemify is built for retail, cafés, restaurants, and service businesses that want checkout, receipts, searchable history, refunds, reporting, and team controls in one browser-based workspace. These terms explain the rules for using that service responsibly, keeping access secure, and understanding how subscriptions, business data, and service updates are handled.

What these terms cover

This page is written to be readable first. It covers the operational and legal points businesses usually need when evaluating or using a modern POS platform.

  • Website access, user accounts, workspace security, and staff login responsibilities
  • Free and paid plans, trials, recurring billing, seat limits, and multi-location structure where offered
  • Business data ownership, privacy resources, support access, and third-party service dependencies
  • Rules against misuse, abusive automation, unauthorized access, or unlawful activity
  • Service changes, suspension rights, disclaimers, and the limits that apply to liability

Account responsibilities & business authority

When you create or use a Shemify workspace, you are responsible for the accuracy of the account, the people who receive access, and the way the service is configured for your business. That includes product data, pricing, taxes, receipt behavior, permissions, and any staff or customer records you choose to keep in the workspace.

Secure credentials icon

Secure your credentials

Protect passwords, shared devices, and other access methods. Tell Shemify promptly if you suspect an account is compromised or a staff login should no longer have access.

Staff role setup icon

Assign the right roles

Owners and managers should limit discounts, refunds, reports, logs, settings, and other sensitive actions to the people who actually need those permissions.

Business authority icon

Act on behalf of the business

If you open or administer a workspace for a company, store, or restaurant, you confirm that you are authorized to accept terms and manage the service for that business.

Accurate records icon

Keep records accurate

You are responsible for the data entered by your team, including products, services, prices, taxes, customer references, and staff details used in daily operations.

Compliance icon

Follow the rules that apply to your business

Shemify provides tools, but each business remains responsible for complying with the laws, tax rules, receipt rules, labor rules, and customer-notice requirements that apply to its own operations.

Subscriptions, trials & billing

Shemify may offer Free, Premium, Enterprise, or other plan structures over time. The details that control billing are the ones shown on the pricing page, inside the app, or at checkout when you start or change a plan.

Plan setup icon

Plan

Free and paid plan structure

Included features, app-access seats, payroll-only staff rules, location structure, and any feature gates depend on the plan selected at the time of purchase or activation.

Trial and renewal icon

Billing

Trials, renewals, and charges

Trial length, billing cadence, renewal timing, taxes, promotions, and currency are shown at checkout or in the app. If you continue beyond a paid trial or renewal date, recurring charges may continue until cancellation takes effect under the terms shown for your account.

Seat and location icon

Seats

Seats, users, and locations

App-access limits, location switching, and multi-location structure change by plan. If your account grows in seats or locations, the applicable pricing or upgrade terms shown for that workflow control.

Billing issue icon

Status

Billing issues and plan changes

If a payment method fails, an invoice remains unpaid, or a paid subscription is canceled, Shemify may limit access to paid features, downgrade the workspace, or suspend access until billing is resolved.

For current public plan details, visit Pricing. For setup guidance before adding staff or locations, see Docs and Staff permissions.

Acceptable use and service integrity

Shemify should be used for your own legitimate business operations. You may not use the website or service in a way that harms other businesses, creates security risk, interferes with uptime, or violates law.

No unauthorized access icon

No unauthorized access

Do not attempt to access another business's workspace, bypass permissions, exploit vulnerabilities, or defeat security protections built into the site or app.

No abusive automation icon

No abusive automation or scraping

Do not overload the service with bots, scripted abuse, scraping, denial-of-service behavior, or automated actions that disrupt normal business use.

Lawful use icon

Use it lawfully

Do not use Shemify for illegal activity, fraud, intellectual-property infringement, unlawful content, or any transaction flow that your business is not allowed to run.

No service interference icon

Do not interfere with normal service operation

Do not reverse engineer the service, introduce malware, try to disable product controls, or interfere with the way receipts, reports, logs, billing, or account protections work.

Investigation icon

Investigations and enforcement

Shemify may review logs, account activity, support history, and other relevant records to investigate misuse, protect businesses, respond to legal requests, and enforce these terms.

Business data, privacy & intellectual property

The point of a browser-based POS is to keep operational records in one place without blurring ownership. Your business keeps ownership of the records it enters into the service, while Shemify keeps ownership of the software, website, design, brand, and other platform materials.

Business data ownership icon

Your business records stay yours

Catalog data, prices, receipts, refunds, staff settings, customer program records, reservations, time entries, and similar business records you add to the workspace remain your business data.

Privacy processing icon

How Shemify uses that data

Shemify processes business data to operate, secure, maintain, support, and improve the service, and to meet billing, legal, or safety obligations. Privacy practices are described further in the Privacy Policy.

Customer and staff data icon

Your responsibilities for customer and staff data

If you collect customer details, staff records, reservations, loyalty data, or time clock information through Shemify, your business remains responsible for collecting and using that information lawfully and for giving any notices your business is required to provide.

Shemify intellectual property icon

Shemify platform rights

The service, software, site copy, interface design, trademarks, and related materials belong to Shemify or its licensors. These terms do not transfer ownership of the product or permit resale, copying, or reuse beyond normal authorized business use.

Exports and deletion icon

Exports, deletion, and retention

Many records can be exported for accounting or internal review. Access, deletion, or retention outcomes may depend on account role, workspace status, backup cycles, dispute handling, and legal obligations.

Availability, updates & third-party services

Shemify runs in the browser, which makes rollout simpler but also means the experience can depend on the device, browser, connection, and third-party service path used in your setup. Businesses should test the full workflow before relying on it in live operations.

Browser-based service icon

Browser-based service delivery

Shemify currently runs in modern browsers on phone, tablet, laptop, and desktop. A stable connection is recommended for busy counters and shared workspaces.

Devices and hardware icon

Device, scanner, and printer fit

Camera barcode scanning, receipt printing, and similar workflows may depend on the exact device, browser, printer model, scanner path, and connection method used. Test the real counter setup before launch.

Third-party providers icon

Third-party providers

Some features rely on external providers such as payment processors, sign-in services, email delivery, browsers, hosting, or analytics tools. Their availability or policy changes can affect how specific workflows behave.

Product updates icon

Product updates and improvements

Shemify may add, remove, change, or limit features to improve security, clarify product boundaries, respond to abuse, comply with law, or support the way the service evolves over time.

Support access icon

Support-access controls

If support needs temporary workspace access to investigate an issue, that access can be requested, approved, or declined. Approved access is temporary rather than open-ended.

Suspension, termination & account closure

A strong operating record also means clear exit paths. Businesses can stop using Shemify at any time, and Shemify may suspend or close access when there is a serious service, billing, legal, or security reason.

Voluntary account closure icon

Exit

You can stop using the service

You may close or stop using a workspace at any time, subject to any unpaid charges, active billing commitments, or account-management steps that still need to be completed.

Suspension icon

Hold

When access may be limited

Access may be limited or suspended for non-payment, suspected compromise, misuse, excessive abuse, unlawful activity, or violation of these terms.

Termination icon

Close

When an account may be terminated

Shemify may terminate access where misuse is serious or repeated, where a security or legal issue requires closure, or where the service relationship can no longer be supported safely.

Export assistance icon

Data

Request help before closure

If you need account guidance, billing clarification, or help identifying what should be exported before a closure or transition, contact Shemify before access is removed where possible.

Disclaimers, liability & policy changes

Terms should be direct about limits. Shemify works to keep the website and product reliable, but no online service can promise perfect uptime, universal device compatibility, or an error-free experience in every workflow and environment.

As available service icon

Provided as available

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis without guarantees that every feature will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every business model.

Liability limits icon

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shemify is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption arising from use of the site or service.

Applicable law icon

Rights that cannot be limited stay intact

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, rights, or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

Terms changes icon

Changes to the terms

Shemify may update these terms from time to time to reflect product, billing, legal, or security changes. Updated terms may be posted here, delivered by email, or shown inside the service.
